Action on Amnesty

Amnesty’s decision to advocate for the decriminalisation of both the buying and selling of sex has caused division within Chelt Fems.  Whilst some members argue that this protects women in prostitution, the majority feel that the Nordic model is preferable.

A recent vote indicated that 13 were in favour of taking action against Amnesty’s decision to support the decriminalisation of pimps and johns, whilst 3 were opposed.  As such, we will proceed with the campaign whilst making reference to the fact that we don’t have a consensus.

The draft position paper here, and blog post  here broadly represent the stance of the majority within the group.

Chelt Fems will be supporting the No Amnesty for Pimps demonstration on Friday 23rd.
